OneMain Financial: Our Commitment to the Environment
OneMain Financial is engaged in a variety of green initiatives that are environmentally beneficial and that help promote a sustainable future. Here are some examples:
National Forest Foundation Partnership - Spring 2014
In April 2014, we partnered with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) by donating $100K to support the planting of 166,000 trees in the Chippewa National Forest in Minnesota and the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in California. The reforestation project in Chippewa National Forest will help restore a forest that offers outstanding wildlife habitat, including the largest breeding population of bald eagles in the lower 48 states, by planting a diverse mix of more than 100,000 native seedlings. In the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the NFF is working with local U.S. Forest Service units to restore high-priority areas damaged by two wildfires by planting 66,000 native Douglas fir, ponderosa pine and sugar pine seedlings. Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED)
OneMain Financial became the first company in the world to achieve LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for more than 100 retail branches. Under the program, branches are being designed and built in accordance with a LEED prototype reflecting environmentally friendly and sustainable features. Features include: carpet, desks, seating, fabrics and cabinetry made from recycled materials, furniture and finishes which meet stringent indoor air quality emission tests and low flow plumbing fixtures.
Branch Asset Recycling Program
As furniture is replaced within our branches, the older furniture is sold or donated to avoid any landfill impacts. Signage and marketing materials from closed locations are recycled for future projects to avoid time and expense associated with new materials. Carpet tiles from closing branches are recovered and reused for future branch carpet replacements.
Branch Cleaning Program
We ensure green cleaning chemicals and products are used across our branch network.
