On Monday, October 16, OneMain will assist in honoring the memory of Michael Breuer by sponsoring the third annual “Day of Hope and Happiness.” Also known as Michael’s Day, this special occasion marks a tribute to the brave 7-year-old boy who passed away after a battle with neuroblastoma. Michael was an avid fan of the State Fair, so in light of his adoration, families fighting childhood diseases will be treated to an all-expenses paid day at the fairgrounds.
As a primary sponsor, OneMain will work closely with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina to coordinate the event. Each family will be provided free admission, free ride tickets, free meal tickets and more. Over 200 children and family members have attended “Day of Hope and Happiness” events in the past.1
Dennis Russ, the regional vice president and division officer of the area, will be organizing our efforts this year. Russ has been with OneMain for 35 years and is excited to partake in this meaningful cause:
“OneMain has been a primary sponsor of ‘Day of Hope and Happiness’ for three years. In addition to free tickets, food and drinks, families from across the state will have access to the hospitality room all day. Our goal is to help them relax, have fun and create some good memories together.”
To make it all possible, Russ has enlisted help from a variety of colleagues:
“I’ll be working with associate division officers, district managers, branch managers and team members to help host the families and make sure their needs are met. In fact, OneMain will operate a booth during all 11 days of the fair. We have roughly 90 volunteers who plan to step up and make each day, including Michael’s Day, exciting and engaging for everyone.”
