Ranked as one of the top 50 fairs in the United States1, the South Carolina State Fair offers 12 days of food, rides, competitions and entertainment. Hosted every October in the state capital of Columbia, the fair spans 115 acres and averages 500,000 visitors a year. Popular events include NASCAR Night, the Prince & Princess Pageant and live concerts at the Grandstand.
The fair’s operations are run by the State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina who funds various educational and community-based efforts. For example, up to $300,000 of proceeds are dedicated each year1 toward funding scholarships for graduating seniors planning to attend an in-state school or university. In its history, the fair has granted over $3 million in scholarships1. As for recent community donations, the fair gifted $200,000 to flood relief efforts in 20152.
To help kick off the festivities, OneMain is sponsoring “One Dollar Day” which will lower the price of admission to $1 on opening day, October 12th. OneMain will also have a table by the ticket booths with company literature and free giveaways. Monica Daniels, Branch Manager of the Columbia Sandhills branch and OneMain employee of eight years, will help run the operation: “We are very excited to sponsor the State Fair for the first time and have nearly all branches within 60 miles helping out. Our giveaways will include OneMain coozies, hand sanitizers, cell phone lanyards and bags. We will also be raffling off a Snapper 360Z Zero Turn Mower to one lucky winner.”
In addition to promoting OneMain, Daniels looks forward to meeting and engaging with attendees: “[The fair] will be a great opportunity to meet and talk with people that live and work in our communities.”
Our team will also be on-site Saturday, the 15th and Sunday, the 16th so stop by and say hello to our OneMain representatives!
