June 16: Wing Ding Fundraiser in St. Charles, MO

By Matt Diehl, June 13, 2016

For the 18th year in a row, Boone Center, Inc. (BCI) will be throwing a Wing Ding fundraiser to help benefit their employment support services for adults with disablities. Featuring buffalo wings and a variety of other dishes from area restaurants, Wing Ding offers a festival atmosphere complete with live music, raffles and a 50/50 cash prize. Raffle items at this year’s event include a Typhoon drone and St. Louis Cardinals baseball tickets. There will also be a spectator car show sponsored by Fast Lane Classic Cars.

BCI, a non-profit full service packaging and logistics company, has organized the event for nearly two decades to keep their social mission operational. They provide training, work opportunities and skills development for more than 300 adults with disablities. BCI’s objective is to help these individuals apply the skills they have to achieve goals and discover potential within themselves.

Springleaf* will be sponsoring Wing Ding for the first time this year and St. Charles Branch Manager Jay Howald is excited to participate. A Branch Manager for 10 years and Springleaf employee for nearly 11 years, Howald will be in charge of the on-site duties: “My responsibilities will include networking with local business leaders and building brand awareness for Springleaf. We are a listed sponsor at the ‘Flaming Wing’ level which includes signage in event prints, event stage banners and a table/booth set up with Springleaf merchandise to hand out .”

Spending more than a decade in St. Charles over the course of his career, Howald understands how important BCI and Wing Ding are to the community: “Wing Ding is hosted at the St. Charles Family Arena which is a major events venue in St. Charles County. The event is supported exclusively by local businesses and has raised over $1 million since it began .”

In addition to helping his community, Howald is proud to represent Springleaf on such a social platform: “We are excited to meet local business members, support a great cause and enjoy the lively atmosphere. We also look forward to building awareness in the public about our company (Springleaf) that has been serving local communities for over 90 years.”
