OneMain Celebrates Charlotte’s Future Pocket Park

Saturday, August 4, 2018

OneMain Financial hosted its third Made on Main Street event on Saturday, August 4, with an exciting block party that celebrated the upcoming beautification project creating a pocket park in Charlotte, Mich.

Charlotte Rising was one of seven organizations across the country to receive a $25,000 community action grant to help revitalize local communities. The organization will use this money to create a pocket park in the heart of Charlotte.

The park, which will be created in place of a vacant lot across from City Hall, is an embodiment of Charlotte’s transformation over the past few years. The grant will be used to create a beautiful, experience-based space with café tables, games, a performance stage and artwork. Local organizations hope to use the space for events and programming to drive positive activity within the community.

To celebrate this revitalization project and bring the community together, OneMain sponsored a free, family-friendly event with complimentary food, live music, games, crafts and artisan vendors.

Making a difference in Charlotte.

OneMain Financial and Main Street America are proud to team up with Charlotte Rising to create downtown's first pocket park for the public to enjoy. The new public space will provide a vibrant place for the community to gather and celebrate Charlotte together. Charlotte Rising's motto is "Default to Action," and we are seeing that attitude of reliance come to life through this project.

The pocket park is a testament to Charlotte's ability to find a positive way through any situation. The new pocket park location is 108-110 E Lawrence Ave.
