OneMain Celebrates Downtown Painesville

Sunday, July 22, 2018

OneMain Financial hosted its second Made on Main Street event on July 22, 2018, with an exciting community beautification project and festival in Painesville, Ohio.

The Downtown Painesville Organization was one of seven organizations across the country to receive a $25,000 community action grant through a partnership between OneMain and Main Street America. It used this money to beautify the grounds surrounding the historic Gage House.

The Gage House was set to be demolished after it was bought by a drugstore chain, but a group of residents and business owners rallied together to purchase and relocate the iconic property. The grant will go toward creating a more welcoming community environment surrounding the building, including beautiful gardens and an open seating area for public use.

To celebrate this transformation and bring the community together, OneMain sponsored a free, family-friendly event with complimentary food, a live concert, games, crafts and artisan vendors.

Despite a little bit of rain, community members turned out and enjoyed the live music and activities.

During the event, guests had the opportunity to explore the Gage House through a guided tour featuring exciting details about the planned changes.

David Polakowsi, executive director of the Downton Painesville Organization, is excited about the project: “The Made on Main Street grant will transform and beautify a historic building which was saved from destruction by the community. The gardens that will be created will enhance the beauty of the building and will be available for everyone to enjoy.”
