My Bariatric Solutions 300 at Texas Motor Speedway

Race Reports

Elliott Sadler and the OneMain Financial team earned their sixth consecutive single-digit finish in the My Bariatric Solutions 300 on Saturday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway after finishing eighth. His strong drive towards the front of the field allowed Sadler to increase his NASCAR Xfinity Series point standings lead over teammate Tyler Reddick by seven markers to 11.

The OneMain Financial team began the 200-lap event from the 34th starting position after the team was unable to make a qualifying run at Texas due to not getting through inspection before the conclusion of Round One. With perseverance, the No. 1 team began to race forward from the drop of the green flag. Through a series of cautions and with overall good handling, Sadler worked his way from 34th to 15th by lap 34. In the closing laps of Stage One, the Virginia native reported his Camaro was a bit snug. It was then that crew chief Kevin Meendering planned the first round of adjustments for the upcoming stage-ending caution. When Stage One concluded, the OneMain Financial team was in 13th place.

A quick stop under the stage-ending caution put the No. 1 team in 11th for the start of Stage Two. With adjustments being made in the right direction, the veteran driver was able to break into the top 10, running sixth at lap 56. Electing to pit under the lap-81 caution for tires, fuel and a track-bar adjustment, Sadler took the final restart of the stage in 21st place. In the final green-flap lap of Stage Two, Sadler drove his OneMain Financial Chevrolet up five positions, finishing the stage in 16th place.

Opting to stay out following Stage Two, Sadler began the final stage of the race in the sixth-place running position. The improved handling of the OneMain Financial Chevrolet allowed Sadler to race within the top 10 throughout the second half of the race. When the green-flag pit stops began, the OneMain Financial team was in seventh. Another quick stop for fresh tires and fuel kept the No. 1 team in contention. In the closing laps of the race, Sadler fought tighter handling, ultimately finishing the event in the eighth position.

Ryan Blaney won the 300-mile NXS event and was followed by Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer and Ryan Preece to round out the top five.

Elliott Sadler, driver No. 1 OneMain Financial team:

“This OneMain Financial team fought hard all weekend long. Kevin (Meendering, crew chief) and the guys made some great changes from practice to today. We didn’t start from where we would have liked to, but my team never gave up. We had good pit stops and adjustments all day, getting us up front and in contention. I wish we could have grabbed the last Dash 4 Cash qualifying position, but I’m proud to walk away with another top-10 finish this season. That’s a single-digit finish for every race this season.”
