OneMain Financial hosted its third Made on Main Street event on Saturday, August 4, with an exciting block party that celebrated the upcoming beautification project creating a pocket park in Charlotte, Mich.
Charlotte Rising was one of seven organizations across the country to receive a $25,000 community action grant to help revitalize local communities. The organization will use this money to create a pocket park in the heart of Charlotte.
The park, which will be created in place of a vacant lot across from City Hall, is an embodiment of Charlotte’s transformation over the past few years. The grant will be used to create a beautiful, experience-based space with café tables, games, a performance stage and artwork. Local organizations hope to use the space for events and programming to drive positive activity within the community.
To celebrate this revitalization project and bring the community together, OneMain sponsored a free, family-friendly event with complimentary food, live music, games, crafts and artisan vendors.

Dillon Rush, executive director of Charlotte Rising, is excited about the upcoming project and hopes the park will foster positivity for the town. “A physical and emotional eyesore in the heart of our downtown is now evolving into a focal point of positivity, rooted in collaboration, creativity and action,” he said.
