With the holiday season just around the corner, most of us will have a lot of extra expenses. While setting a holiday budget can help, making some quick cash for the holidays certainly can’t hurt! Whether you want to make money online or in-person, there are plenty of easy ways to earn more this holiday season.

How to Make Money Fast — Online

The internet allows us to be more connected than ever before — so much so that we no longer need to leave our homes to make money. Here’s how you can make some quick cash for the holidays, all from the comfort of your own home!

Getting Straight to Business

There are a lot of businesses that need short-term or gig-based help. By using sites like Upwork or fiverr, you can get connected to thousands of businesses in need of everything from data entry to customer support to copywriting and more!

If you can’t find any gigs you feel qualified for, then you could try your hand at becoming a Mechanical Turk for Amazon. Essentially, businesses work with Amazon to outsource microtasks in order to get work done quickly and easily. Pay is per task, and tasks typically involve identifying objects in a photo or video, removing duplicate content, filling out surveys and categorizing information based on instructions.

Get Crafty

If you’re looking to make money and fulfill a creative outlet, then you’re in luck! With Zazzle, you can create designs and/or photographs and upload them onto products, such as T-shirts, mugs and pillows, for anyone to buy. Zazzle handles all of the inventory, printing and shipping, and you get a percentage of each sale.

If you want to push your creativity even further, check out Etsy. There are thousands of people selling everything from art, to home décor, to magnets, to clothing and accessories and more.

Resell Your Existing Items

If you look around your house, you’ll undoubtedly find items that you’re able to sell for some quick cash. From an old iPhone, to those jeans you’ve been wanting to fit into again, to collectibles — one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. For the majority of items, check out sites like eBay, craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. If you have designer items, then Poshmark might be worth looking into. If you can do without your car and can rely on walking or public transportation, check out Carvana—they’ll give you a quote online and come pick up your car, providing a check the same day.

Rent What You Already Own

Do you have an extra room in your house? Or maybe you’ll be traveling over the holidays? Rent out what you aren’t using with Airbnb! You’ll receive payment about 24 hours after your guest’s scheduled check-in time.

Do you have a car you don’t need some days? Rent it with Turo! You’ll get paid via PayPal within 3 hours after the person who rented your car ends their trip.

You can even rent out your parking space with apps like ParkingPanda and SpotHero and receive a monthly check or deposit. In fact, you can rent just about anything you own with Fat Llama and get paid within three business days!

Step Outside and Make Money Fast this Holiday Season

Although there are a lot of great opportunities to make money online, sometimes you’ll need to work onsite to make some serious coin. Let’s check out some easy ways to make money in-person.

Retail and Beyond Since the holidays are such a busy time for businesses and retailers, they’re always looking for extra staff. You can make extra money this holiday season by becoming a brand ambassador. Essentially, you’ll work with a marketing company that partners with larger organizations to work different gigs and events, doing everything from handing out flyers and samples, to simply being at an event, ready to answer questions. Look into companies like Encore Nationwide, Big Orange Productions and 8 Days Promotions to start making money as a brand ambassador.

With the mall being a quintessential part of the holiday shopping experience, there are plenty of opportunities to make extra money. If you look the part, being a mall Santa can be the perfect opportunity to make extra holiday money. If not, there’s always room for more of Santa’s helpers! Additionally, most stores in the mall will hire seasonal, part-time workers, so it’s easy to pick up a retail job during the holidays. And as a bonus, you may even get a store discount, helping you save money on holiday gifts.

Take Care With holiday events and travel plans, people are bound to need help taking care of their pets, children and elders. Check out Rover to help pet-sit while people are away, and Care.com to become a caregiver for everything from children, to seniors, to pets and even house plants. It’s a great way to help people out while making some extra money for the holidays.

Deliver It With a surplus of festive parties, companies need additional help delivering food around the holidays. Look into Doordash, GrubHub, Postmates and Uber Eats to deliver food from restaurants and Instant Cart to do grocery shopping and delivery. Aside from food, there will also be a lot of extra holiday packages, so companies like Amazon, UPS and FedEx are always looking for seasonal drivers.

Transportation If your car qualifies, you can use it to make extra money this holiday season by becoming a driver for rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft.

No car? No problem! Look to other methods of transportation, such as scooters, and make extra money by becoming a charger with apps like Bird and Lime. Both companies offer a base pay of $3-5 a scooter, plus varying bonuses depending on location and how long it’s been since the scooter was charged. You can actually make up to $20 a scooter and get paid the same day via direct deposit.

Follow the Task at Hand People will pretty much pay you to do any tasks on sites like Thumbtack and TaskRabbit. From cleaning a house, to putting together furniture, to helping someone move, you can easily make extra money this holiday season. But, if you don’t want to interact with strangers, apps like Field Agent, Easy Shift or GigWalk make it easy to go out in the world and make some extra money by doing simple tasks, such as checking if a product is stocked correctly.

Make This Holiday Season Different

In today’s gig economy, there are plenty of easy ways to make money. Rather than going into debt this holiday season, we hope you’ll take some of the above opportunities to make money fast — just in time for you to enjoy the holidays with friends and family.
