We love sharing real-life tips and strategies from managing your money, getting good deals on the things you need and making long-term financial decisions. That’s why we’re so excited to be partnering with two nationally recognized financial experts — Stacey Tisdale and Cat Alford.
Read a little bit more about them below and keep your eye out for this series of videos and blogs.
Meet Stacey Tisdale
Stacey Tisdale is an on-air journalist, expert in behavioral finance, and author of the book The True Cost of Happiness: The Real Story Behind Managing Your Money.
Stacey’s approach to money management is about way more than the numbers — she helps people learn to understand and work past the complex emotions and beliefs that influence our relationship to money, cloud our judgment and create some not-so-great habits.
“Throughout my career, I’ve seen the impact financial stress has on everything from decision making, to our psychological and emotional well-being, and even our sense of self. The truth is, life happens. Anyone can find themselves in a world of financial trouble in an instant,” Stacey explained.
Stacey is working with us to help you learn how to identify money habits and create solutions for managing debt, building savings and even investing small sums.
“I’m excited to partner with OneMain because I want to remind all people that self-worth has nothing to do with net worth. We will share the knowledge and give people the resources that prove that. Together, we will help people live richer lives,” she said.
Meet Catherine Alford
Catherine Alford — usually called Cat — is a nationally recognized family finance expert who specializes in helping women (moms in particular) take on a more active financial role in their families.
Cat didn’t start out as a financial expert but when she found herself following her husband to another country where she had no job prospects (but plenty of student loans to pay back), she began learning — and writing — about personal finance, living on a budget, and managing student loans and credit card debt.
"I'm incredibly excited to partner with OneMain and encourage people to play an active role in their personal finances. I will help OneMain’s customers learn more about saving, investing and earning more money because we all have the ability to create the best possible lives for ourselves and our families.”
Stay tuned for videos and blogs from Stacey and Cat that will focus on setting financial goals (and sticking to them), living on a budget, managing the stress money can put on our relationships and coping with life’s expensive surprises.
Stacey Tisdale and Cat Alford are compensated by OneMain.
