NOTICE: The Card Graduation Event benefit is unavailable for applications submitted on or after Thursday, October 31, 2024 12:01 AM Central Time.
These BrightWay Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (the "Terms and Conditions") govern the BrightWay Rewards Program (the "Program") for the BrightWay Mastercard® and BrightWay+ Mastercard® (collectively, the "Card"). Your Card account (the "Account") is automatically enrolled in the Program. Use of your Account or your Card constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. There are two primary benefits offered under the Program: "CashBack Rewards" and "Milestone Benefits." BrightWay cardholders (but not BrightWay+ cardholders) can also achieve a "Graduation Event."
CashBack Rewards
What are CashBack Rewards?
CashBack Rewards are rewards that you earn on Qualifying Purchases (described below) made with your Account subject to these Terms and Conditions. CashBack Rewards are automatically issued as credits to your Account.
How do I earn CashBack Rewards?
You earn CashBack Rewards when you make Qualifying Purchases. The CashBack Rewards you can earn during a Billing Cycle (as defined in your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement) equals 1% of the net Qualifying Purchases in that Billing Cycle.
What are Qualifying Purchases?
"Qualifying Purchases" are Purchases (as defined in your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement) that post to your Account and for which you are eligible to earn CashBack Rewards. Qualifying Purchases do not include any of the following: finance charges; Account fees; payments; payment reversals; account adjustments; transactions prohibited under your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement; Cash Advances (as defined in your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement); money transfers; and any transactions determined by us to have been conducted solely for generating CashBack Rewards. Transactions that are not Qualifying Purchases do not earn CashBack Rewards.
Is there any limit to the CashBack Rewards that I can earn?
No. But you may be ineligible to earn CashBack Rewards if your Account is not in Good Standing (described below).
How do you calculate my CashBack Rewards and what happens if there is a return, reversal or other adjustment to a Qualifying Purchase?
We calculate your CashBack Rewards in any given Billing Cycle by taking the sum of your Qualifying Purchases that post to your Account that Billing Cycle and subtracting any returns, reversals or other credits that relate to Qualifying Purchases from the same Billing Cycle. This gives us the net Qualifying Purchases for the Billing Cycle. We then multiply the net Qualifying Purchases by 1% and round to the nearest dollar to determine your CashBack Rewards Account credit. It is possible for the net Qualifying Purchases in a Billing Cycle to be negative and, in this case no CashBack Rewards are credited to your Account. CashBack Rewards you earn do not accrue any interest.
How does redemption work?
Redemption is automatic. We will automatically issue you an Account credit for the CashBack Rewards you earn in any given Billing Cycle at the end of such Billing Cycle, subject to the rest of these Terms and Conditions.
How do I get information on my CashBack Rewards?
We will include information about your CashBack Rewards on each of your billing statements. You may also be able to access such information through other means that we make available to you, including through your online account.
Can you prevent me from receiving my CashBack Rewards?
Yes. Only Accounts with a rewards-eligible status (in "Good Standing") can earn or receive CashBack Rewards. We may deem your Account as not in Good Standing in our sole discretion, including, without limitation, in cases where we suspect fraud or abuse, or other suspicious activity with respect to the Program or your Account, your Account is delinquent or otherwise in default, your Account is over its applicable limits, your Account is closed, or your ability to use the Account for transactions is suspended.
What happens to my CashBack Rewards if my Account is not in Good Standing?
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in these Terms and Conditions, if your Account is not in Good Standing, we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to not allow you to earn CashBack Rewards on Qualifying Purchases and/or not issue credits for any CashBack Rewards you may have otherwise earned. In the event that your Account transitions from not being in Good Standing to being in Good Standing within a Billing Cycle, we shall have no obligation to issue credits for CashBack Rewards for each entire Billing Cycle in which your Account was not in Good Standing for part of such Billing Cycle.
Can I transfer my CashBack Rewards to someone else?
No. CashBack Rewards are not transferable.
What happens to CashBack Rewards if my Account is closed?
If you or we close your Account, you will not be eligible to earn further CashBack Rewards. If your Account is in Good Standing on the date your Account is permanently closed, at the end of the Billing Cycle in which the Account is closed, we will issue you an Account credit for any CashBack Rewards you would otherwise be entitled to receive through the date of closure (subject to adjustment for returns and reversals or negative adjustments).
Milestone Benefits
What are Milestone Benefits?
Milestone Benefits are benefits you earn, subject to these Terms and Conditions, when you achieve a Milestone Event.
When does a Milestone Event Occur?
A Milestone Event occurs when you make six Consecutive Qualifying Payments during Qualifying Cycles.
What is a Qualifying Cycle?
A Qualifying Cycle is any Billing Cycle in which your Minimum Payment Due (as defined in your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement) is not less than $1.00 and your Account is in Good Standing.
What is a Qualifying Payment?
A Qualifying Payment is one or more payments made using a permissible payment type under your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement that satisfies the Minimum Payment Due for a Qualifying Cycle and that successfully posts on or before the Payment Due Date (as defined in BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement) for that Qualifying Cycle.
What are Consecutive Qualifying Payments?
Consecutive Qualifying Payments occur when Qualifying Payments are made in two or more consecutive Billing Cycles; provided, however, that, except as provided below, we ignore any Billing Cycle in which there is no Minimum Payment Due.
For example, if a Qualifying Payment is followed by a Billing Cycle with no Minimum Payment Due, but you make a Qualifying Payment in the Billing Cycle thereafter, we will treat the two Qualifying Payments as Consecutive Qualifying Payments without regard to the intervening non-qualifying Billing Cycle.
Can I earn multiple Qualifying Payments during a Qualifying Cycle?
No. Only one Qualifying Payment can be earned per Qualifying Cycle.
For example, if your Minimum Payment Due for a Qualifying Cycle is $100 and you make a payment of $100 followed by a second payment of $150 and both post before the Payment Due Date, you will earn only one Qualifying Payment.
Can I lose Qualifying Payments?
Yes. You will lose any unapplied Qualifying Payments if (1) you fail to pay any Minimum Payment Due in any Billing Cycle on or before the applicable Payment Due Date or (2) six consecutive Billing Cycles occur that are not Qualifying Cycles.
Your Qualifying Payments also will reset to zero once you achieve a Milestone Event. You may lose a Qualifying Payment if the status of an event required to obtain Qualifying Payment status subsequently changes.
For example, if the payment associated with your Qualifying Payment is subsequently returned for insufficient funds, the payment would no longer qualify as Qualifying Payment.
What Milestone Benefits currently are available?
Subject to these Terms and Conditions, you currently can choose from two Milestone Benefits: (1) a reduction of your Purchase APR or (2) an increase in your Credit Limit. Your Purchase APR can be reduced to no lower than 19.99% and your Credit Limit can be increased to no greater than $15,000. Credit Limit increases are also subject to meeting income affordability requirements. We may offer additional Milestone Benefits from time to time at our sole discretion. These may include higher CashBack rates or vouchers or credits with participating merchants. We also may change the currently available Milestone Benefits at any time in our sole discretion. Once you achieve a Milestone Event that makes you eligible for a Milestone Benefit, we will tell which Milestone Benefits are available to you.
Can I lose Milestone Benefits?
Yes. If you fail to select a Milestone Benefit by the Payment Due Date following the Billing Cycle in which you earned a Milestone, you will lose the Milestone Benefit and all associated Qualifying Payments.
For example, if you make a sixth Consecutive Qualifying Payment on April 25 and the Billing Cycle for that month ends on April 30, you must select a Milestone Benefit by your next Payment Due Date of May 25 or you will lose the Milestone Benefit.
You may also lose a Milestone Benefit if the status of an event required to obtain the Milestone Benefit subsequently changes.
For example, if the payment associated with the Qualifying Payment that achieves the Milestone Event associated with the Milestone Benefit is subsequently returned for insufficient funds, you would no longer be eligible for the Milestone Benefit.
To the extent that a Milestone Benefit modifies the terms of your Account, this also does not prevent us from amending your Acount terms as provided in the BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement.
Are all Milestone Benefits always available?
No. We may be unable to grant an increase to your Credit Limit (as defind in your BrightWay Mastercard® Credit Card Agreement) due events beyond our control (e.g., your overall creditworthiness or ability to repay). Similarly, the APR with respect to any given segment cannot be reduced by more than 50 basis points (0.5 percentage points).
We will notify you if we are unable to grant your Milestone Benefit selection and allow you to make an alternate selection.
Card Graduation Event (BrightWay cardholders only)
NOTICE: The Card Graduation Event benefit is unavailable for applications submitted on or after Thursday, October 31, 2024 12:01 AM Central Time.
What is a Graduation Event?
If you are a BrightWay cardholder, you can earn a Graduation Event that qualifies you for BrightWay+ Card.
When does a Graduation Event Occur?
A Graduation Event occurs when you achieve four Milestone Events using your Brightway Card. Milestone Events do not need to occur consecutively and can instead be earned over the life of your Card.
What happens to my Milestone Benefits after a Graduation Event?
A Graduation Event occurs when you achieve four Milestone events using your BrightWay Card. If a Graduation Event occurs and you obtain a BrightWay+ Card, you will not have any Milestone Benefits. This means you will start with 0 Milestone Benefits and can earn additional Milestone Benefits as you use your BrightWay+ Card.
