If you are struggling to make your monthly rent payments or worried about possible eviction, know that you are not alone. Here are some resources to help you figure out your next steps.
What is the eviction moratorium?
In September 2020, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a temporary national moratorium on most evictions for nonpayment of rent. The temporary halt on evictions has officially been lifted, and while states, counties and cities can still ban evictions and enact other tenant protections, most of these programs have ended or may end in the near future.

Don’t rush into promises of easy money. If you’re looking for a solution to your financial difficulties, don’t make any rash decisions. Think before you act so you don’t get stuck in a worse financial situation by jumping into a debt settlement agreement or payday loan.
Borrow from a trusted lender. While rental assistance and other government benefits may help you with your basic needs, you might need relief from other financial obligations also. If you decide a personal loan is the best choice for your situation, make sure you’re using a reputable lender. Check on insurance protection. Are you concerned about the loss of your employment or inconsistent income? You may have signed up for involuntary unemployment insurance.
